Garden 2011-Some pics of "Before" the garden relocation and remodel

This huge above ground pool came with our house, but was not being used for several reasons. It was in a good location...for a GARDEN!

Grandpa came from FL to help with some major projects while Ben was away for 2 weeks on business. This pool removal project was at the TOP of the list!

How exciting...its going DOWN!

Joshua and Caleb were eager to help Grandpa- they amazingly knocked this project out in 2 days!
The deck had been built around the pool edge and we wanted to get rid of that too

the little workers!

Down with the aluminum pool!
We ended up taking it to a recycling company and making a little $$$

it was a BIG job...a heavy one too!

The new garden is going to be spacious!

this area wraps around the left side of our house and gets lots of sun, as there are no trees on this side:
We laid out the aluminum and it was something like 90 feet long!

it kept going and going...

ahh...its gone!
Still lots of work to do to get rid of the rocks and amend the soil, but its progress

looking better

we repainted the deck and hot tub too!

this is the garden site from last year...we planned to sod this wasteland!

Carrot Harvest!

The carrot greens were getting huge! So...we decided to do some picking!

Wow...that's pretty long one!

All of my Garden Babies :)

Check these carrots out...we call them "love carrots" as they were completely hugging each other!
While I dug up all the carrots in the main garden, Joshua started picking green beans
(we grew them beside the corn so that they'd crawl up the corn stalks) See him in there???

Check these carrots out! Amazing!

Wait...Caroline wants to show you too :)

Just wild...

Sadly, we haven't been on top of harvesting the green beans as well as we should have been...so many of them grew too big to eat.
We did the next best thing though and the kids had a blast peeling the beans out of the ? whatever you call it...the green bean

this kept them busy for an hour!

We've now got plenty of seeds to plant next Spring already!

Caleb took this shot...Elisa's showing her green bean, I guess- she likes to caulk her head
Aren't these carrots gorgeous???
Love the vibrant colors!

Elisa and her baby...I mean her spaghetti squash!

See???

We've got lots of these...we planted the seeds from a spaghetti squash we bought earlier in the Spring
